چکیده

This paper is devoted to the problem of recovering a potential q in a domain in R for d ≥ 3 from the Dirichlet to Neumann map. This problem is related to the inverse Calderón conductivity problem via the Liouville transformation. It is known from the work of Haberman and Tataru [11] and Nachman and Lavine [17] that uniqueness holds for the class of conductivities of one derivative and the class of W 2,d/2 conductivities respectively. The proof of Haberman and Tataru is based on the construction of complex geometrical optics (CGO) solutions initially suggested by Sylvester and Uhlmann [22], in functional spaces introduced by Bourgain [2]. The proof of the second result, in the work of Ferreira et al. [10], is based on the construction of CGO solutions via Carleman estimates. The main goal of the paper is to understand whether or not an approach which is based on the construction of CGO solutions in the spirit of Sylvester and Uhlmann and involves only standard Sobolev spaces can be used to obtain these results. In fact, we are able to obtain a new proof of uniqueness for the Calderón problem for 1) a slightly different class as the one in [11], and for 2) the class of W 2,d/2 conductivities. The proof of statement 1) is based on a new estimate for CGO solutions and some averaging estimates in the same spirit as in [11]. The proof of statement 2) is on the one hand based on a generalized Sobolev inequality due to Kenig et al. [14] and on another hand, only involves standard estimates for CGO solutions [22]. We are also able to prove the uniqueness of a potential for 3) the class of W s,3/s (% W ) conductivities with 3/2 < s < 2 in three dimensions. As far as we know, statement 3) is new.

Global Uniqueness from Partial Cauchy Data in Two Dimensions

We prove for a two dimensional bounded domain that the Cauchy data for the Schrödinger equation measured on an arbitrary open subset of the boundary determines uniquely the potential. This implies, for the conductivity equation, that if we measure the current fluxes at the boundary on an arbitrary open subset of the boundary produced by voltage potentials supported in the same subset, we can de...

Determination of second-order elliptic operators in two dimensions from partial Cauchy data.

We consider the inverse boundary value problem in two dimensions of determining the coefficients of a general second-order elliptic operator from the Cauchy data measured on a nonempty arbitrary relatively open subset of the boundary. We give a complete characterization of the set of coefficients yielding the same partial Cauchy data. As a corollary we prove several uniqueness results in determ...

Uniqueness by Dirichlet-to-neumann Map on an Arbitrary Part of Boundary in Two Dimensions

We prove for a two dimensional bounded simply connected domain that the Cauchy data for the Schrödinger equation measured on an arbitrary open subset of the boundary determines uniquely the potential. This implies, for the conductivity equation, that if we measure the current fluxes at the boundary on an arbitrary open subset of the boundary produced by voltage potentials supported in the same ...

Increasing Stability for the Conductivity and Attenuation Coefficients

In this work we consider stability of recovery of the conductivity and attenuation coefficients of the stationary Maxwell and Schrödinger equations from a complete set of (Cauchy) boundary data. By using complex geometrical optics solutions we derive some bounds which can be viewed as an evidence of increasing stability in these inverse problems when frequency is growing.

Inverse Scattering for the Magnetic Schrödinger Operator

We show that fixed energy scattering measurements for the magnetic Schrödinger operator uniquely determine the magnetic field and electric potential in dimensions n ≥ 3. The magnetic potential, its first derivatives, and the electric potential are assumed to be exponentially decaying. This improves an earlier result of Eskin and Ralston [4] which considered potentials with many derivatives. The...
